When looking for inspiration for my work, I usually look on design pages on Instagram or Pinterest, these are the two apps I use most frequently when gaining new ideas and ways of working. Whilst browsing both sites, I firstly found the artist named 'Victoria Atelier' who produces abstract fine art prints and paintings, born in Argentina where she had workshops with a few artists to gain experience and inspiration for her own work.

A specific piece of her work I found inspiring is a handmade item using paper, acrylic paint, ink and gold leaf:

Moreover, using the same technique and materials, Atelier has created another abstract composition using different colours, lines and marks. Despite finding much information about her work, I have been inspired by the appearance of her work, how each mark is completely different in the weight of it's line or the depth of it's colour. The layering of bold colours with smaller, detailed marks is also something I have included within my work due to the interesting contrast.

I have interpreted Victoria Atelier's style into my own work and experimentation:

These compositions our my own experiments with this style of work, my favourite piece would be the top right hand side as I think the contrast of the pink paper as a background creates a contrast and makes the paint layered on top have a different appearance. I used watercolour for the base of my images using a paint brush and tapping the end of this flick the paint onto paper, then letting it naturally flow along the paper. Once this had dried, I then used a gold paint, squeezed this on top of the watercolour to create the shiny/metallic effect which I think makes the colours look more appealing. My last thing that I done to layer these was using fine liner pens and acrylic paints to draw mark makings on top of this, I feel these are interesting and gave me a new way to work.
