Developing my sketchbook work, I have gone from looking at the perspective of the entrance of the Royal Arcade to starting to look at different areas of the building, focusing on the shapes and patterns, using a specific colour scheme to produce my abstract designs. The main aspect of the building is the 'arc' shaped windows, producing these in a simplistic, abstract way I've developed a range of different drawings and images to experiment with composition, line and shape, this style of work is my most favourite style to work in as I like the contrast and mixture of colours, shapes and the way they work placed together/ next to each other.
I also feel that the use of different line widths and lengths is a good starting point for the topic of weaving as this will make it easier for me to reflect my studies of my chosen buildings into my weave by using specific pattern methods and coloured yarns.
The arched windows closer to the top of the building have inspired me within this section and development of my work, I feel that looking at specific aspects of the building has helped and enabled me to break down the building and look closely at one section. Looking at this, it's developed my sketchbook work and created a new style of working for me, placing big, bold coloured arched shapes onto my page and either layering them or drawing near them thin line and patterns, creating an interesting contrast and reflection of my chosen building. The colour scheme I have started to use is not reflective to this building, however I feel these colours are representative of my style of work and the colours I like using (pastel, lighter colours).
