My main source for information I use for my research is Pinterest, I feel that this website is filled with ideas, especially for art and textiles and design, finding new ways of working and inspiration for my work. Looking through Pinterest, I came across the artist Robert Fox, who's a textile designer and graduate from London. She has an eye for colour, texture and detail and uses a bold, abstract style, she produces her work by taking photographs, using collage, screen printing and dye. She states, 'my surroundings inspire many of my projects. I am particularly drawn to highlighting the beauty of the unconsidered, everyday objects, textures, and shapes that go unnoticed in our day to day life', this approach to her work and the idea of looking at the most simplest aspect of our everyday life and finding a design or interest in this has greatly inspired me and is sort of how I like to go about my work; not looking for the biggest, most interesting building, location etc, but looking at the most simplest object or texture within a wall or pavement and creating an interesting series of work from this.
Although there is little information about the artist Roberta Fox, there is a list of exhibitions and awards that she's won and been involved in:
These are a few of the awards Roberta Fox has won, she's a fairly new artist and designer, this reason being why there is little information about her and the meaning behind her works, however, her work caught my eye as she uses an abstract approach to her work, which is also what I use within my work, I like the layering effect of texture, pattern and mark makings she uses and the colours of these and how they all work well together.
Here are images of Foxes' work from her graduate collection and portfolio on her webpage, these designs are inspiring and the shapes and textures she makes are similar to the way I've made my marks within my stripes and checks sketchbook; by looking at small details and textures in walls, pavements, gates, doors etc.
