Screen Printing samples

Using inspiration from my current sketchbook work, I have drawn my design onto some acetate/screen print paper to create a screen to print with.

I've drawn my teapots and tulips and roses to print and make samples with, although these are simple designs they link to my work and I plan to layer them, either with shapes or by stitching over them to create a texture.

Some of my samples are simplistic and look quite plain and boring, however this is because I want to use this as a first sample to test out colour, composition and how the image looks printed onto fabric.

I've used the colour palette of red, orange, pink and blue. To make these colours I used 100g of procion paste for each colour, for the blue colour I used, 'bright turquoise', 0.30 of the dye to get a light coloured blue, for the red I used 0.55g of 'cherry red' dye, for the orange I used 0.48 of 'bright orange P 2R' and for the pink, 0.16 of 'cherry red'. The first cherry red paste I made up was more red than I wanted it to be as I wanted it to be a light pink, this experimentation has helped me so that next time I can use the correct colour amount.
