Starting this project, I’ve looked at the Castle Musuem walking around the collections and seeing what interests me and sparks and idea and starting point. Once I’d had a look around I found that I wanted to focus on the teapots section and also briefly looking at vases, looking at the material of these, the unusual and interesting patterns on them and the shape of the object itself.
Taking quick sketches of these I found that I used a quite quick, messy drawing technique to create experimentation and produce some quirky and fun ideas and sketchbook pages. The main thing in this section I feel I could develop/improve would be to draw them more accurately to draw more of the details within the object and also to used more different textures and coloured backgrounds for my work.
Moreover, my other chosen section of my hybrid project is within the musuem ‘Country and Eastern’ based in city of norwich, taking a look around this museum I found some beautiful embroidered and printed linens and clothes, these all being made and imported from countries like Turkey and through ‘the indian subcontinent’. Focusing more of the patterns of these materials and products I found that I was inspired by the floral patterns.
From this I took my own pictures of various different plants and flowers to sketch, I’ve started layering these with the teapots I sketched in the castle museum to create a contrasting image; handmade products of tea pots and vases contrasted with natural grown plants. I think these two aspects compliment and work well together as a design.
