Exploring Print With Photoshop

Looking at digital print and developing my own skills I have previously been more familiar to using 'Illustrator' as this was what I was taught in college, however for changing specific details and colours etc, Photoshop seems more of the better option for it and as I'm not as familiar and used to this digital design application I have tried to experiment and grasp the knowledge of specific tools and how to do specific things to my images and designs.

I have began to experiment and place my own colour ways onto our collaborative design on Photoshop, playing about with the different layers and tools I finally got the hang of it:

The first image, I had to erase the background for it to get rid of any layer behind it, from there I selected the design and copy and pasted it into a new page, on this page I individually selected objects to change the colour of them, I have stuck to a colour scheme of 4 colours as this is the amount we have to use when we print our design. I have tried to balance the colour and although this repeat isn't perfectly produced I have made it to see how my chosen colours will roughly look on the design.

Moreover, taking a few drawings from my sketchbook and placing them into both illustrator and photoshop I have created a few designs, these are mainly extra pieces of work to show my own drawings as a small design.

This was a good exercise to get me back into creating digital designs and becoming more confident in using these softwares. Although I do like these designs, I feel they could be improved by taking more time on them, making them more bolder and vibrant. My favourite design out of the three above is the first one as I do like the simplicity of just two drawings merged as a pattern and how there isn't too much going on, it's clear to see, however the last image (right hand side) I don't like so much, this being because of the numerous amounts of colour that somehow don't match very well, my style is more simplistic and clear, whereas this image uses a mixture of strong colours, by making this image better I could change the composition, make all the flowers the same size so they looked more ordered or to keep to a smaller colour scheme.
