Today we were based in Morag's office all day, this was to focus on sorting files, phone calls and e-mails to organise projects. Morag started off by organising her desk, putting her files into order and overall tidying it up so it was easier to find things, she also makes sure she prints out e-mails, receipts and invoices to do with her jobs so that when she needs to go back to them she can easily find them and have them as a copy. My first job was to take a whole folder of these printed e-mails etc and sort them into product and date order, I sorted through them into either the client or company and once I had finished and had each of these into piles I then sorted them into date order, putting the newest file at the top and the oldest at the back, this would make it easier for Morag to then find these documents when needed.

Once I had finished this job, we then spoke about how to measure up a room, Morag uses a scale ruler to make an accurate judgement onto paper of the space she is designing, her client wanted a short, wide cabinet in her bathroom, however from what Morag showed me this wouldn't leave her much room within her area, so Morag suggested to have a tall and thin cabinet so that the client could fit the same amount of products in but also has enough room to move about in. Morag then made more phone calls, she rang her lamp company to find out if they do a certain part of the lamp in an antique gold to match the dresser she is placing this lamp onto, it's these little details that a designer can spot and it makes a difference as to how it will eventually look. As part of just choosing a lamp there are so many options of the base style and size, the lampshade style, size, shape, fabric and colour, the rod part of the lamp and the colour of this, so many aspects of one product. Moreover, I then made a phone call to this company once Morag had narrowed her colours down to 5 options she could have on the lampshade, therefore I ordered these samples to be delivered so that Morag could see them in person. I learnt that there are so many different products that need to be ordered, how many things you need to measure in order to make your placement accurate, it's all about space and balancing this.
