This week was our final printing week, to start the week off on Monday we finished our layers (tracing of our design) so that we could hand this in to be exposed onto the screens. Furthermore, we done our group and individual colour testing, I dyed my piece of fabric a very light pink and colour tested onto this, I mixed up my colours using between 50 and 60g of acid paste for each colour and then between 0.56 and 3.12 of dye, depending on how dark/pale I wanted it to look. Furthermore, the first colour I used was an 'acid orange', this came out quite bright, although it is a nice colour it didn't mix well when other colours were placed on top. Moreover, the next colour I used was an 'acid aubergine', I wanted to see how this colour looked as I would use this for my last layer (the outlines and details), however this didn't look right for what I wanted. The colours that I decided with were 'acid turquoise', 'acid violet' for the details, 'acid pink' and 'acid jade', I felt these colours meshed well together and there was a varied colour selection with the mixture of blues, pinks and purple. To improve this colour selection I could have experimented more with my colours, and tried making my own colours by mixing dyes together.
On Wednesday, we printed our final length, there were many steps which we needed to do in order to get our placement right, this was to measure from the bar on the print table to the line on the screen- roughly 14cm. We then put some tape down and measured from the bar 14cm and drew a line on the tape of where this measurement went up to. A few other steps were made, putting the nuts and screws and the t-bars onto each screen and also to make sure the measurement from each bar was the same so that the design matched up correctly. We printed our first layer three times, on the 'A' stoppers on the bar, then washed this clean and leave it in the dryer, meanwhile we used the hairdryers to dry the print so that it didn't smudge, once the screen was dry we then printed in the spaces of the 'B' stoppers. We repeated this for each layer/screen until we came to our final print.
The rest of this week was to evaluate our design and to wash out our prints, also to start focusing more on our project of 'promoting well-being through textiles design'.
