For these five samples I have used dyrect dye and discharge dye to dye the fabric, then used illuminating discharge and clear discharge to print my design. I used a rubine red and golden yellow dye for the first two samples as the base colour, the second two I used an intense black dye and the last sample I used a royal blue. For discharge samples, you have to have a colour background in order for the illuminating/ clear discharge to be successful, I experimented with a range of different illuminating discharge colours, they all worked well expect from the third sample as I wanted the clear discharge (white) to be the outline for this design, however, the other colours overlapped this, although this didn't work well, it still helps me in future sampling, every sample has taught me something different, whether it be successful or not its taught me what works well and what doesn't.
Moreover, I experimented with purely the clear discharge and my final layer of my design and dyed fabric using dyrect dyes. I used a silver grey, deep purple, bright turquoise and lemon yellow, I dyed these fabrics in four separate pots for around 20 minutes to make sure the colour was strong. The green sample was dyed and emerald green, and the last sample I printed the final layer of my design the super white binder, and then painted marks of the illuminating discharge within my design, this was also an experiment to see how this technique looked hand painted onto a fabric. Although all of these samples below were experiments, I feel I could develop these more by adding other techniques as they're quite simple and all very similar, the last sample is different as I'm experimenting with the hand painting technique, however, I don't think this looks successful, especially when thinking about final samples.
