On Monday the 26th of November we were given our brief for the 'fashion directions, experimentation and application' project. This project is very broad and enables us as students to create our own path and style of work, when I first got given the brief I was a bit intimidated as we haven't had a project as broad as this before, and given the 'learning agreement' form made me realise how I need to prepare and be organised within my project, giving a clear idea of what I'm going/planning to achieve.
My first ideas were based on self-healing clothing for children, creating fabrics that would mend themselves if a child ripped or broke the material, also self-washing fabrics for children as they're prone to getting dirty throughout the day, and having this as a property of the clothing will help them to stay clean. Moreover, after some research into ideas about sustainability, health and diet (linking to my well-being project) I began my idea of active wear, looking at materials used for this, trending pattern, shape and colour used on sportswear design and aspects of this clothing that monitor heart rate and other health issues when the consumer is training, enabling them to keep safe and keep healthy. As a member of a gym myself, it's interesting to see what materials benefit you and also benefit the environment, thinking about quality of material rather than quantity. I am also looking at aspects of the gym itself, 'toxic workouts' are becoming a regular thing in the world of fitness and thinking you're being healthy by going to a gym may be wrong; this is something I'm focusing on more for my essay, but it will benefit my work.
