WGSN's trend : Active Style Trend Concepts A/W 20/21: Considered Comfort

-Restoratively Raw: "Raw and organic materials will offer a closer connection with nature, and a restorative and comfortable appeal".

-Heightened Slumber:"Tactile comfort will play a lead role in aiding slumber and restorative fitness". The role of sleep with restorative fitness; producing wearable duvets and the idea of comfort within our clothing.

The idea of sleep and restoration, these are key within fitness as you always need to feel comfortable and to restore your body after any exercise in order for muscles to repair.

-The Home Office:"The rise of the home office will continue to drive demand for a more relaxed working wardrobe". Growing focus on sensory and physical comfort.

"Anti-odour, anti-crease, and enhanced comfort".

-Bathleisure:"From fitness to slounge, the bathroom will be re-cast as the new fitness hub".

Ideas of specialised rooms to be created for new uses of living, working out and socialising.

"Repurposing bathroom styles and fabrics such as towelling and waffle to create core styles where comfort and performance are in partnership."

-Home Fitness:"Our relationship with home will transform as new technology and virtual trainers allow us to experience boutique fitness in the comfort of our private space". Home fitness products will be developing, digital instructors and virtual fitness classes will all be used within the home throughout technology.

-Softly Sculptured:"Fitness basics will take on a new elegance inspired by sculpture, interior design, and the body itself". As the home becomes more utilised for fitness, equipments like weights will be re designed to become more home-style looking, objects of beauty that fit with the style of the home; multiple purpose equipment.

"This will also be echoed in core basics, where simple silhouettes will be elevated with curved and sculpted shapes. Focus on timeless colours and textures, and simple designs that lend themselves to movement."

-On the Move:"Consumers will seek products, systems and even transportation that replicates their home comforts while on the move". Enabling easier movement into clothing, whether its for a being at home comfort or on the go, enabling your clothing to constantly be comfortable.

-Sports Formal:"Building on athleisure, we will increasingly see active designs adapted for more formal purposes".

  • "The growing expectation for everyday comfort will see performance fabrics and design principles fused with a sophisticated, more formal aesthetic."

  • "The aesthetic is clean, sharp and functional. Styles are designed for longevity, with minimal detailing and greater adaptability, as consumers focus on buying better rather than more."

Creating sportswear that's suitable for fitness and formal wear is giving activewear more functions, giving it a longer life is also making activewear much more sustainable.
