As well as screen printing for my fashion directions project, I'm also creating sublimation prints by creating designs onto illustrator and photoshop. Focusing on geometric shape and design and the placement of these within a composition I have created a series of designs that I've then printed onto 'Polyester Elas' which is similar to lycra material.
I am happy with these designs as I think they're simplistic yet smart, geometric which is the look I wanted to be put onto sports leggings. Although these reflect my ideas for my collection of products, they are quite basic designs. Using the shaper tool on illustrator I created these shapes and created a composition, then to turn them into a pattern.
To develop from these and create more interesting designs that link more to my sketchbook work, I scanned my drawings and designs into my computer and played with the 'levels' and brightness on photoshop, then cut up these images to create designs and patterns.
I think these designs are more developed in the sense that they took longer to create and there's more detail elements to them. I like the colours and the layering effect, however, I feel some of them are quite messy and uncontrolled which doesn't link so well to my work. This is an experimental task I have created, playing around with both illustrator and photoshop to see how I can create different textures, layers and patterns.
