GROUP WORK EVALUATION

On Friday the 8th of March our group set a task to meet at 9:30 in the studio to create group collage's, as we had agreed on creating images of shape, stripes and a general abstract design, we brought in textured paper and coloured paper to create large scale images, these were fun, quirky and quick to create, once we had created several different styles, we looked at them altogether and felt the more textured, busy designs were slightly too childish and un sophisticated for our target audience. However, we felt overall that both the designs with less texture and more block colour worked well and also the designs made up of just stripes worked quite well too as they're a bit more simplistic. However, I feel these designs were made very quickly, therefore they could be made more neater and better looking when taken time on. This way of working is slightly out of my comfort zone as it's quite free, random and playful, whereas my style is more slick and controlled, it's been a good experience working in a different way to how I usually work.

Although these designs aren't perfect and are quite rough, they've given our group a starting point as its enabled us to learn what works and what potentially can work in terms of our audience and design. I personally feel the stripes work better with the company as you can see on their website they've used stripes in places and also using our specific colour scheme within different designs using stripes will mean that the designs will be different, but also have a sense of theme and similarity.
On the same day as we created these designs we presented them and our ideas to the group, the feedback we got was that our designs were good and represented good experimentations, however, did seem childish and very playful compared to how 'Hunter' designs appear. We took this into consideration and understood this feedback as previously agreeing on something similar when creating these collages. We were advised to look more into the company itself, at the specific materials and ethical side of the company, the market level it's on and the style and design of garments they're presently selling, this will help us to develop our knowledge on our company and create a well-suited design.
